Bearland Recording Studio provides a peaceful yet sophisticated space for musicians, podcasters, and audio-book narrators to record their work. Drawing on his 40+ years of experience, owner Steve McNally helps his clients develop and attain their best creative expressions.

Acoustic Excellence
- In 2016 we gutted an Amish-built barn and reconstructed it to meet the standards of the Audio Engineering Society.
- All audio pathways in the studio were custom designed by the world-renowned company Whirlwind.
- We have > 100 microphones in our locker, so can meet almost any recording need.
- The studio was designed so artists can be separated into 3 distinct rooms. There are also 2 “Nashville style” booths for isolation of amps, Leslies, etc.
- Many instruments are available in the studio, including: Fully refurbished Steinway upright piano, Goff Hammond B3 & Hammond Pro XK3 w/ Leslie speakers, Rhodes & Wurlitzer electric pianos, Hohner D6 Clavinet, numerous guitars & amps, 3 full drum kits & many percussion instruments.

Bearland utilizes the following pieces of technology:
- ProTools Ultimate on Mac Studio provides extremely fast & powerful computing support.
- Fully loaded UAD-2 Satellite Quad Core has hundreds of plug-ins to emulate vintage equipment (e.g., compressors, EQs, amp simulators).
- Native Instruments Komplete Collector’s Edition has over 1 terabyte of samples from over 1,000 musical instruments.
- Avid HD I/O 16×16 Times two allows for simultaneous recording of up to 32 tracks of HD audio.
Steve's Background
Steve McNally has been performing music for 50 years, recording artists for 45 years, and producing artists for 25 years.
As a performer, Steve specializes in keyboards, particularly organ. He has toured with a wide array of musicians over the decades, including the Nightstalkers, Joe Beard, & Funky Blu Roots, among many others. Steve has also recorded with hundreds of musicians, including Mick Taylor (of the Rolling Stones), the Chesterfield Kings, Trey Anastasio (of Phish), John Popper (of Blues Traveler), Man O’ War, Chris Beard, Lisa Bigwood, Dady Brothers, & Chuck Campbell (of the Campbell Brothers).
Steve opened his first recording studio in 1978 and since then has built multiple studios for himself and other recording engineers. For the past eight years, he has served as an audio engineer and instructor/mentor for Recording Radio Film Connection in Los Angeles. Steve has also produced hundreds of CDs, including for artists Lauren & the Good Souls, Joe Likely, Chuck Campbell, the Nightstalkers, Andy Saxby, Ricky Baker, Riff Monsters, Into the Now, Million Dollar Trailers, Tim Kasser, Dave Riccione, Earle Macintosh, Jim Heyl, The Inbetweens, Jerry Fretto, and many others.
